Location
Cannes sits on the French Riviera between Nice and Saint-Raphaël, with the Vieux Port beside the Palais des Festivals and below Le Suquet, the old town on the hill. Boats leave from the port for the Lérins Islands, Sainte-Marguerite and Saint-Honorat, a few minutes offshore, and the Cannes Film Festival has been held here since 1946.
Getting there by public transport
Cannes station (Gare SNCF de Cannes, rue Jean Jaurès) is served by TGV and TER trains along the coast. From the station, the Palais des Festivals and the Vieux Port are about a 7 minute walk, or you can take Palm Bus line 1 between Gare SNCF and Gare Maritime, about every 5 minutes.
