Location
Cannes sits on the French Riviera between Nice and Saint-Raphaël. Boats leave from the Vieux Port, next to the Palais des Festivals and below Le Suquet, the old town on the hill, for the Lérins Islands, Sainte-Marguerite and Saint-Honorat, only a few minutes offshore. The Cannes Film Festival has been held at the Palais des Festivals since 1946.
Getting there by public transport
Trains from TGV and TER services along the coast stop at Cannes station, Gare SNCF de Cannes on rue Jean Jaurès. From the station it is about a 7 minute walk to the Palais des Festivals and the Vieux Port, or take Palm Bus line 1 between Gare SNCF and Gare Maritime, about every 5 minutes.
