Location
Saint-Tropez sits on a peninsula on the Var coast, facing the Gulf of Saint-Tropez and Sainte-Maxime. Pampelonne beach lies just south of the town. It was a fishing village until painters such as Paul Signac made it known at the end of the 19th century, and the 1956 film And God Created Woman with Brigitte Bardot made it famous.
Getting there by public transport
Saint-Tropez has no train station. From Saint-Raphaël Valescure station, take ZOU! bus line 876, which runs via Sainte-Maxime. From Toulon station, ZOU! lines 878 and 879 run to the town. Les Bateaux Verts sail all year from Sainte-Maxime and Port Grimaud, Les Bateaux Bleus sail from Saint-Raphaël, and Trans Côte d’Azur sails from Cannes and Nice in high season.
