Location
Saint-Tropez sits on a peninsula on the Var coast, facing the Gulf of Saint-Tropez and Sainte-Maxime. Pampelonne beach lies just south of the town. The village was a fishing port until painters such as Paul Signac made it famous at the end of the 19th century, and the 1956 film And God Created Woman with Brigitte Bardot later drew even more visitors.
Getting there by public transport
Saint-Tropez has no train station. From Saint-Raphaël Valescure station, take ZOU! bus line 876, which runs via Sainte-Maxime. From Toulon station, take ZOU! lines 878 or 879. Les Bateaux Verts sail all year from Sainte-Maxime and Port Grimaud, and Les Bateaux Bleus sail from Saint-Raphaël.
