Location
Saint-Tropez sits on a peninsula on the Var coast, facing the Gulf of Saint-Tropez and Sainte-Maxime. The town was a fishing village, and at the end of the 19th century painters such as Paul Signac made it famous. Pampelonne beach lies just south of the town.
Getting there by public transport
Saint-Tropez has no train station. From Saint-Raphaël Valescure station, take ZOU! bus line 876 via Sainte-Maxime, or from Toulon station take ZOU! lines 878 or 879. Les Bateaux Verts sail all year from Sainte-Maxime and Port Grimaud, Les Bateaux Bleus from Saint-Raphaël, and Trans Côte d’Azur from Cannes and Nice in high season.
