Location
Saint-Tropez sits on a peninsula on the Var coast, facing the Gulf of Saint-Tropez and Sainte-Maxime. Pampelonne beach lies just south of the town. The old fishing village became famous after painters such as Paul Signac worked there at the end of the 19th century, and after the 1956 film And God Created Woman with Brigitte Bardot.
Getting there by public transport
Saint-Tropez has no train station. Take ZOU! bus line 876 from Saint-Raphaël Valescure station via Sainte-Maxime, or ZOU! lines 878 and 879 from Toulon station. From Sainte-Maxime or Port Grimaud, Les Bateaux Verts sail all year, and Trans Côte d’Azur runs from Cannes and Nice in high season.
