Location
Cannes lies on the French Riviera between Nice and Saint-Raphaël. The Vieux Port sits next to the Palais des Festivals and below Le Suquet, the old town on the hill. Boats leave from the port for the Lérins Islands, Sainte-Marguerite and Saint-Honorat, only a few minutes offshore. The Cannes Film Festival has been held at the Palais since 1946.
Getting there by public transport
Cannes station (Gare SNCF de Cannes, rue Jean Jaurès) is served by TGV and TER trains along the coast. From the station, it is about a 7 minute walk to the Palais des Festivals and the Vieux Port. You can also take Palm Bus line 1 between Gare SNCF and Gare Maritime, which runs about every 5 minutes.
