The Cannes Film Festival has been held here since 1946. Boats leave the port for the Lérins Islands, Sainte-Marguerite and Saint-Honorat, a few minutes offshore.
Getting there by public transport
Cannes station (Gare SNCF de Cannes, rue Jean Jaurès) is served by TGV and TER trains along the coast. From the station, it is about a 7 minute walk to the Palais des Festivals and the Vieux Port, or you can take Palm Bus line 1 from Gare SNCF to Gare Maritime, about every 5 minutes.
