Location
Cannes sits on the French Riviera between Nice and Saint-Raphaël. The Vieux Port lies next to the Palais des Festivals and below Le Suquet, the old town on the hill. Boats leave from here for the Lérins Islands, Sainte-Marguerite and Saint-Honorat, only a few minutes offshore, and the Palais has hosted the Cannes Film Festival since 1946.
Getting there by public transport
From Cannes station on rue Jean Jaurès, served by TGV and TER trains along the coast, it is about a 7 minute walk to the Palais des Festivals and the Vieux Port. You can also take Palm Bus line 1 between Gare SNCF and Gare Maritime, roughly every 5 minutes.
