Location
Saint-Tropez sits on a peninsula on the Var coast, facing the Gulf of Saint-Tropez and Sainte-Maxime. The town started as a fishing village and became famous through painters such as Paul Signac at the end of the 19th century, and later through the 1956 film And God Created Woman with Brigitte Bardot. Pampelonne beach lies just south of the town.
Getting there by public transport
Saint-Tropez has no train station. From Saint-Raphaël Valescure station, take ZOU! bus line 876, which runs via Sainte-Maxime. ZOU! lines 878 and 879 run from Toulon station. You can also arrive by boat, as Les Bateaux Verts sail all year from Sainte-Maxime.
