Location
Cannes sits on the French Riviera between Nice and Saint-Raphaël. The Vieux Port lies next to the Palais des Festivals and below Le Suquet, the old town on the hill, and boats leave from here for the Lérins Islands, Sainte-Marguerite and Saint-Honorat, only a few minutes offshore. The Palais des Festivals has been home to the Cannes Film Festival since 1946.
Getting there by public transport
Cannes station, the Gare SNCF de Cannes on rue Jean Jaurès, is served by TGV and TER trains along the coast. From there it is about a 7 minute walk to the Palais des Festivals and the Vieux Port, or you can take Palm Bus line 1 between Gare SNCF and Gare Maritime, about every 5 minutes.
