Location
Cannes sits on the French Riviera between Nice and Saint-Raphael, with the Vieux Port next to the Palais des Festivals and below Le Suquet, the old town on the hill. Boats leave from here for the Lerins Islands, Sainte-Marguerite and Saint-Honorat, a few minutes offshore. The Cannes Film Festival has been held at the Palais since 1946.
Getting there by public transport
Cannes station (Gare SNCF de Cannes, rue Jean Jaurès) is served by TGV and TER trains along the coast. From there it is about a 7 minute walk to the Palais des Festivals and the Vieux Port, or you can take Palm Bus line 1 between Gare SNCF and Gare Maritime, about every 5 minutes.
