Location
Cannes sits on the French Riviera between Nice and Saint-Raphaël. The Vieux Port is next to the Palais des Festivals and below Le Suquet, the old town on the hill, and boats leave from here for the Lérins Islands, Sainte-Marguerite and Saint-Honorat, a few minutes offshore. The Palais has hosted the Cannes Film Festival since 1946.
Getting there by public transport
Take a TGV or TER train along the coast to Cannes station (Gare SNCF de Cannes, rue Jean Jaurès). From the station it is about a 7 minute walk to the Palais des Festivals and the Vieux Port, or you can take Palm Bus line 1 between Gare SNCF and Gare Maritime, which runs about every 5 minutes.
